Pronunciation isn't about sounding perfect — it's about being easily understood. Improve it and both your clarity and your confidence jump. Here's how.
Train your ear first
You can only say what you can hear. Listen closely to native speakers and notice the exact sounds, stress and melody — especially sounds that don't exist in your own language.
Shadow and imitate
Repeat right after a native speaker, copying everything — speed, rhythm, intonation. Exaggerate at first; it feels silly and works brilliantly.
Record and compare
Record yourself saying the same sentence as a native and compare. The gaps you hear are your to-do list.
Focus on the few sounds that matter
- Target the sounds your language doesn't have.
- Learn where the stress falls — it changes meaning in many languages.
You don't need a perfect accent. You need to be understood without effort — and that's very achievable.
