🇧🇭 Bahrain: the most reachable permanent residency in the Gulf

Bahrain’s Golden Residency is permanent, it is open to salaried employees as well as investors, and the government application fee is BHD 5. In November 2025 the property route got cheaper still.

Retirees15 years in Bahrain and a pension of BHD 2,000+ a month; retirees living abroad need BHD 4,000+.

Citizenship (1963 Act, Article 6)

A foreigner needs 25 years of residence (15 for Arab nationals), counted from when the Act took effect, together with good conduct, fluency in Arabic and property registered in Bahrain. Naturalised citizens wait ten years before they can exercise political rights.

Dual nationality is possible only with prior approval from the Interior Ministry or Cabinet, under a 2016 amendment, case by case. And for Indians the question is settled from the other side: Indian law ends Indian citizenship the moment another is acquired.

Arabic won’t get you the visa. It changes everything after it.

Indian citizens: taking any Gulf nationality ends your Indian citizenship automatically (Citizenship Act, Section 9). What that means, and what OCI does and doesn’t give you →
