DELF B2 — Common Questions
Is DELF B2 accepted for French university admission?
Yes. DELF B2 is widely accepted by French universities as proof of French language proficiency for international students. Most public universities and many grandes écoles accept DELF B2. Some selective institutions (Sciences Po, top engineering schools) prefer DALF C1. Always verify with your target institution.
Can I use DELF B2 for Quebec immigration?
Yes. DELF B2 is accepted for Quebec's Programme régulier des travailleurs qualifiés (PRTQ). It earns significant points on the selection grid. However, for federal Express Entry (IRCC), you must use TEF Canada or TCF Canada — DELF is not accepted federally.
What is the DELF B2 pass score?
50/100 total with a minimum of 5/25 on each component. The writing component (Production écrite) is where many candidates struggle — it requires constructing a coherent, well-argued essay, not just describing. Practise with timed AI-graded mock tests to calibrate your writing score.
How hard is DELF B2 compared to B1?
DELF B2 is significantly harder. At B2 you must critically analyse texts, understand implicit meaning, argue convincingly in writing (250+ words), and debate a topic in the oral exam. Most learners need 5–8 additional months of dedicated study after B1 to reach B2 standard.
