DELF A2 — Common Questions
What score do I need to pass DELF A2?
The pass mark is 50 out of 100 total, with a minimum of 5 out of 25 on each of the four components. If any single component is below 5/25 — even if the total is above 50 — the exam is failed for that component.
Is DELF A2 Scolaire different from DELF A2?
DELF A2 Scolaire uses the same level and scoring system as standard DELF A2, but the topics, vocabulary, and scenarios are specifically designed for school-age candidates (12–17). Both certificates are officially equivalent and equally recognised.
How long does it take to prepare for DELF A2?
Starting from A1 level, DELF A2 preparation typically takes 3–5 months of regular study (around 80–100 additional hours). If you are starting from scratch (zero French), expect 6–9 months to reach A2 standard.
Can I use DELF A2 for a French long-stay visa?
A2 demonstrates basic conversational French. It is useful for long-stay visa applications (family, au pair, language student) but most formal work permits and immigration pathways require B1 or higher.
